A watch winder winds your automatic watch saving you time and effort. It rotates the watch slowly, causing the rotor inside to spin, winds the mainspring, readying the watch whenever you desire to wear.

Picked up this double-watch winder or rotator during my recent visit to Shanghai.

Was attracted by the neat and clean finished, an indication that a lot of effort has gone into completing this finished product. The black colour exudes a kind of grandeur look comparable to Western-made.

The winder accommodates the winding of two automatic watches at one time with double storage compartments.

Just wanted to try out China made products which have tremendously improved quality wise.

Tried a few Swiss vintage watches on it and it rotated pretty well, smooth and silent. Durability wise, only time will tell...

Program details:

Mode 1, Operation On/Off.

Mode 2, Turn clockwise. Rotate for 2 minutes and rest for 6 minutes and then repeat.

Mode 3, Turn counter clockwise. Rotate for 2 minutes and rest for 6 minutes and then repeat.

Mode 4, Turn both clockwise and counter clockwise. Rotate for 2 minutes in one direction and then rest for 6 minutes. Rotate for 2 minutes in the opposite direction and then rest for 6 minutes. Repeats above cycle.

Mode 5, Turn both clockwise and counter clockwise. Rotate for 5 minutes in one direction and then rotates in opposite direction in same 5 minutes. Repeats continuously for 3 hours and then rests for 9 hours. After 9th hour, it will begin rotating above cycle.

Some time ago, my mentor who owns the biggest watch gallery in the city introduced me to this watch winder or watch rotator to facilitate the 'winding' of my collections of automatic watches. This particular Wolf design has been very reliable, useful, handy and dutifully serve my watches.

At a few hundred Ringgit per piece, it is inexpensive taking into account its beautifully crafted design, quality and durability.

Of course there other models available of various designs in the market. Be smart when choosing any particular model before procuring any unit.

It is always best to sight the unit at any watch gallery and request for a full demonstration.

As such purchasing through e-purchase is not very recommended especially if it is being retail at ridiculously cheap price. What more if you are going to use it for your expensive automatic watches!

You might end up with a garbage for the peanut price paid...

For real collectors with a good stock of automatic watches, a watch winder would provide convenience, time savings and an ease of mind that watches are ready to wear whenever wanted even if those watches are not frequently used.

Having a watch winder also reduce an automatic watch wear and tear, in particular to the crown winding mechanism.

For watches with complicated functions like moon phase or perpetual calendars resetting and rewinding could be quite a tedious task that most watch owners would like to avoid because frequent resetting and rewinding might cause certain harm to the mechanism of those watches.
